I tried to paint as often as possible during the final 2024 season. I am currently looking over my body of work and preparing it to go online over the next few months. Please continue to follow my blog and various social media platforms.
2023 was the penultimate season at for digging and for me painting, at the Ness. The beginning of the season, I was involved with my exhibition in Stromness OVER THE EDGE. You can see most of the artwork displayeded at https://jeannebouzarose.com/pages/exhibition https://jeannebouzarose.com/pages/exhibition
Over 60 original paintings, prints and watercolours were on exhibit and for sale. The wonderful Sue Shackleton was my curator and Meg Tefler helped me man the gallery. Nick Card, Anne Mitchell, Jim Rylatt, Scott Pike, Dr. Jo McKenzie and Dr. Antonia Thomas came for late evening openings and were able to answer visitor questions making the exhibition even more alive! Some works are still available and can be purchased NOW!
I was able to donate a portion of proceds from all sales to two local groups. The Peedie Retreat is a grassroots initiative to build a respite home available to Orcadian residents and their families dealing with cancer and MS. https://orkneycommunities.co.uk/ThePeedieRetreat/.
I also donated to the Ness of Brodgar Trust, to support the ongoing needs of the Ness of Brodgar excavation. https://nessofbrodgar.co.uk

There My Be Paint on that Fallen Orthostat
Nearly at the end of the season, a bit of clay was scrapped off that horizontal orthostat and it seemed possible that there was pigment there. Read for news of that research to come. The Path Beside Structure 12 and Across the Hearth to the Hills of Hoy
It was during the last few days of the 2021 dig, that I bravely used longer canvases. It was great to have a larger space to cover and working fast with pigment sticks and pigmented charcoal became a very tactile addition to working. Size 36 x 12 Oil and mixed media on canvas Price includes shipping. When purchased, I send a donation to the Ness of Brodgar Trust.

2020 Swans at the Loch Across the Ness
Last summer, the swans just dotted the water of the Harry Loch, like bits of foam. I just couldn’t paint black tyres, so sat aroun the side of the trench and painted the views that diggers have to look for. They spend so much time with their eyes to the ground. Size 5 x 7 inches FRAMED Oil on canvas board Price includes shipping. When purchased, I send a donation to the Ness of Brodgar Trust.

Around the Ness at the End in 2019
As one of the artists in residence during the open dig season at the Ness of Brodgar, I was captivated by all the circles. Tyres are used to anchor the winter covering. Wheelbarrows are essential. It all just keeps it going round. See you in the 2023 season! Catch my 2022 work on exhibit sometime August 2023 in Stromness Size 6 inch diameter Oil on stretched canvas Price includes shipping. When purchase, I send a donation to the Ness of Brodgar Trust.
